High School Academic Team

OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to promote the value of participation, sportsmanship, team play, and personal excellence to develop citizens who make positive contributions to their community and support the democratic principles of our state and nation.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
During the Spring of 2012 session, West Platte's high school academic team went undefeated in both Junior Varsity and Varsity. The Varsity team went to the state competition and won the 4th place trophy. Quite an accomplishment for our school!

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any 9-12th grade student who hav strengths in academia, sports, trivia, and entertainment/ fine arts knowledge are invited to participate.

OUR PRACTICES:
The High School Academic Team begins to meet the second week of January. Practices are in the morning from 7:15 to 8:00 A.M. two days per week. There are usually 7 to 10 regular competition meets that are scheduled in March. KCI conference and District meets are scheduled in April. The state meet held in Columbia, MO is usually the second weekend in May.
Flexibility is a big part of the academic organization because many of our members are involved in the play and other sports, such as track and baseball, during the same time as the academic season.
