Dismissal From NHS

Members should understand that they are liable for dismissal from the West Platte Chapter of the National Honor Society if they do not maintain the high standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character that were used as the basis for their selection. Students are allowed limited warnings during their membership in NHS, but in the case of a flagrant violation of school rules or civil laws, a warning is not necessarily required. A student that is dismissed on the basis of violation of school rules or civil law or resigns may never again become a member of the West Platte Chapter of NHS.

Members are required to maintain a high GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. This is a cumulative GPA which is re-figured at the end of each semester of work. If a member does not maintain this cumulative average, the member will be notified of his/her deficiency and given one semester to regain the necessary cumulative GPA. During this probationary period, the member is allowed to participate fully in NHS activities. At the end of the probationary period, the member is either restored to full membership on the basis of the required GPA, or he/she must forfeit his/her membership if the cumulative GPA has not be maintained.
